A lot of things hurt. Saving lives doesn't have to

What happens after blood donation ?
Donating blood is a simple thing to do, but can make a big difference in the lives of others. The donation process from the time one arrives until the time they leave takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 8-10 minutes on average.
Step 1
Your blood is typed, which includes identifying the ABO type and a positive or negative Rh factor.Whole blood donations are separated into three essential components red cells, plasma and platlets (sometimes).
Step 2
A combination of pre-donation screening and rigorous testing ensures the safety of blood supplied by Community Blood Center. Each vial of blood is tested for HBV,HCV,HIV-1, HIV-2,Syphilis and Malaria.
Step 3
After your blood has been divided, passed all tests, and been properly typed and labeled, it is stored in large refrigerators and freezers at CBC. It is now ready for distribution to needy patients.
